Say It Isn't Snow?

Vol 7 Issue 2

I heard it last night, did you? The mention of the possibility of the areas first snowfall, albeit from the weatherman of the local NBC affiliate, he said it nonetheless. Now, I know that making any prediction is hard, especially when you have no control over the outcome, but the weather has got to be the hardest. That’s what tickles me the most with these weather people, always bragging about their latest Doppler this and Doppler that, and how they have something that the other meteorologists don’t have. I know what they don’t have and so do you; the ability to get it right. Who was it that said, “you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the time.” Now that should be the weatherman’s motto.

I remember last year watching outside my balcony window as about eight inches or so had already fallen, one local weather personality said, “ looks like there’s going to be some significant accumulation.” Oh really, I wonder did Doppler 10000 tell him that, or did he just simply go outside. What I really love is while watching a program and they’ll have a weather update and show a “live” camera shot of the weather team, scurrying back and forth, pointing at charts and maps, dropping papers and so forth. I’ll bet if you listen closely, you’ll hear someone in the background saying, “CUT.”

So bundle up, get lots of canned foods, bottled water, duct tape, (which you should have plenty left over from that whole bio-terrorism thing) and a snow shovel or two before they’re all gone. If and when we get the “BIG” one, think about the little old lady or man on your block, in your building, or in your “hood” and after you get yourself all shoveled out, take a break fix yourself something to eat and then without telling them shovel them out too, at least so that they can get their mail. That way you are guaranteed to warm up at least two hearts, and that is one prediction that is sure to come true.

“Oh the weather outside is frightful, but he fire is so delightful, and since we’ve got no place to go, Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! But only if Doppler says so!
